When In Doubt, Run Away.

Why does love not come with marriage? It's only logic for it to do so. Why did Nanny lie to me, was it to make sure I don't run as fast as the wind through the field away from this fixed life? Maybe if she would have taught me everything it means to bury my feelings and keep a key to my mouth in my pocket, I would have learned sooner that this means a life of solemn days, if no motive to keep mending this setting, I will run away, with who I do not know.

Their Eyes Are Watching The Upcoming Year

"There are years that ask questions and years that answer."  Write a speculative response on what the upcoming year will hold for Janie.  Will this year be the year that asks questions or one that answers them?  Will this be the year that does both?

The upcoming year will probably hold a lot for Janie, lots of new change and finding herself out. Also, who she will become, (Mrs. Mayor Starks) or if she will return to Logan Killicks. The year will definitely be the year that asks multiple questions about herself and the future of Eatonville.
I believe that she will find unhappiness wherever she goes, if  a man is in that era of time. He is either preoccupied, or wants something more from her. What Janie wants is clearly love, but does she need it to be happy? I think she will not stop untill she finds it.
Questions might be answered as well, for when one has questions, there will be answers. Therefore, the year will be doing both, for her and everyone involved in her life.

I Love The Girls Who Don't Like Me - Not.

When one talks about you, you can often feel the dislike lingering in the air, and if it's not you doing the disliking, then it's your "friend." Feeling the tension between each other is certainly not appreciated, how can one just accept their dislike and love them anyways? I guess some people can do so. Saints really, angels or just people who don't give a rat's booty. I always question the daily group of girls who have such hate towards each other, constant drama, like if their world would be so much easier and pain-free if those people did not exist. Of course, some days they'd be caught in jolly rejoicing with each other, as if they were family. I really do not understand why people must be so intricate... and complicated. For me, it's either drop it or rock it. I wouldn't put myself through such agony for such a small amount of exuberantness together. But I guess it's completely possible.
People talk, and most of the time for pure jealousy. Sometimes it can be changed, when judging is overlooked and getting to know others is undertaken. Overcoming mutual hate is just one of the obstacles people have to jump over.

Questions On The Great Gatsby

Why did Nick want to know more about Gatsby, when before talking of Gatsby's "life" was not that interesting to him?

Why doesn't Tom divorce Daisy, when he's having an affair with Myrtle Wilson, could it be because of his daughter? Money? Or love?

If Gatsby has been with so many women in his life, why does he still want to see Daisy? Is he in love with her? Or does he just want closure?

If Nick is not in love with Jordan, but still sending "Love, Nick" letters, why doesn't he stop seeing his other maiden in his hometown?

Doctor, Doctor.

"But above the great land and the spasms of bleak dust which drift endlessly over it, you perceive, after a moment ,the eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg. The eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg are blue and gigantic- their retinas are one yard high. They look out of no face but, instead, from a pair of enormous yellow spectacles which pass over a nonexistent nose. Evidently some wild wag of an oculist set them there to fatten his practice in the borough of Queens and they sank down himself into eternal blindness or forgot them and moved away. But his eyes, dimmed a little by many paintless days under sun and rain, brood on over the solemn dumping ground." (Page 28) -The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Ends DO Justify The Means

There are things in life that are put into the category of good and bad. Although many of these are put into the right order, society sometimes faults in it's decisions of fixing things. Due to the old ways, laws, and morals, everything must be modernized except for things that are "Mala in se." This means, just wrong period, like rape, murder, and burglary. But sometimes... sometimes there is an intracrate situatiuon where there is a justifiable reason and should be done. There can never be perfect laws, so people must not complain. New things happen everyday, proving many thoughts wrong.
An example would be murder for instance, if your daughter or son was in danger, but proving that they were is impossible, and the only way to save them was to kill, would you? If you are a good parent, you would. The ends do justify the means.

Questioning Display

When we were younger, how we dressed, how we looked, did not matter to any of our peers. Now it's so popular to determine '"your kind" with the way of dress. It's mindless really. But anyways, as we get older, some take it into advantage. Many people's outward appearances are deceptive, many do so to decline attention from specific people. I know, if I dress up in 9 inch heels and a tight fitted skirt, the attention it'll bring is overwhelming. Now, if I were to dress up in baggy clothes and hair messy everyday, I'd still get negative attention, but in a different way, where people would stay away. Society has constructed the idea to dress to impress, which in some cases is sensible, but others over dramatic. People decide to spend hours on appearance, wasting valuable time of life. A couple of minutes is all that is needed, because beauty is natural. That's my opinion of course though. Many things we value is empty, like top notch accessories, and the brand name shoes... but some things we do value is substantial, like family, and holidays together, quality time and vacations.
Looks and money do not matter to me in a significant other really, as long as they hold an outstanding personality. What I will admit is, I should not have to support my significant other twenty four seven, with him doing nothing around. That's as far as I'll go. Some people look for more wealthy people, automatically thinking they will have all the qualities they've searched for. But people learn along the way appearance and status are inconsequential.

Just to know a bit more on who I am

My name's Maria, (I know I know everyone has that name) but I don't think there's another Maria in this world that is mixed with my specifics and taking 2 dual credit classes for Palo Alto. Ok, well I have 4 brothers, I'm the eldest and only girl, which of course means more work for moi. Speaks Spanish, English, and a bit of French. My Chihuahua is like my son. I'm quite fond of social networks. I love rock, Indie, hardcore, post hardcore, old Hip Hop & R&B, a bit of the new music as well. I actually tend to listen to 80's alternative rock the most, it's fantastic. I guess you can say I'm stuck in that decade sometimes. My legitimate "life" revolves around schoolwork and my family, unfortunately I don't have any interesting hobbies that'll blow your minds away. But, hopefully I'm interesting enough for you to follow. Oh yeah! It might seem a bit unprofessional, but you may be an adherent to my twitter account: @mariatortillia. -Thanks, xoxo Maria

Assimilation, assassination?

Assimilation is the spread of a popular, most successful ethnicity in a country, in this case America. I personally admit I have ;assimilated before, and I'm very sure everyone has or will assimilate, even unintenionally. When caucasions have specific cultures or traits, others decide to inhabit those things. For example Beneatha perms and somewhat replenishes her hair according to the book, The Raisin In The Sun. She has done so, because she found her natural beauty is not what she defines as so, and prefers strait hair like the whites. Asagai points out what he thinks is a flaw, and finds that she shouldn't do that just to fit in. This play shows it as a weakness, for African Americans do not embrace their birth hair. There are numerous people in these surroundings of mine that seem to assimilate, label wise, style, and even personalities. Students find the more powerful popular students wearing something and mimic it for appraisal and/or attention. Even those who do not follow them, decide to follow the unfollowers. I think that assimilation is an assassination to a person's culture and personality really. Eric Lui's view is very incisive, proving his point is logical and agreeable. Tying in his childhood and life, with the explanation of his current state of cluelessness, just verifies his opinion is valid.

My family or my desires?

It's not difficult for me to determine this answer really. Family, of course, because without family, there's practically no one to share any achievements, past memories, stories or occurrences at the moment. I mean, you can always do that with a close friend, but the feeling of emptiness will always be present. People without families are most likely to feel lonely or isolated, leading to depression, thus suicides and mental instabilities. Am I right? I was separated from my family when I was 11. It didn't occur to me how much more heartache than relief of responsibilities would impact me the first couple of weeks. I had a bit more freedom right, it's what I had been craving. The childhood of a normal eleven year old. You see, the problem is, no matter how much I loathed or envy other people on what they have, I realized that without anyone encouraging, motivating me to follow my dreams I was hardly human. I know, you have to accomplish this for yourself, but guess what? I need praise for what I accomplish. Every human needs love. Every human needs care. Even from a friend because hell, they can be family too.

What's The American Dream?

The American dream is what you make it, really. In America, almost anything is possible. When one fails at life with no success whatsoever, you ARE frowned upon, and no it's not because of how you look, but what you've done or haven't done with your life. The American dream is guaranteed for any united states citizen, and very posssible for an immigrant. In America, everything's possible.
My American dream is simple. I do not prefer or ask for a family like most women, but I do want a successful career with a passion. My american dream consists of being a criminal attorney. Sometimes I do doubt my career preference, but i do know I want to be successful. All I want, need actually or I'll be very depressed, is a stable high wage job while helping others at the same time. Even if I can't see the person I'm saving, or if I become a writer, inspire people, I'd be so grateful its unimaginable how my gratitude and thanks to those who'd help me would extend. That, my friends, is MY American dream.
